eSATA

External SATA (eSATA) adalah pilihan interface terbaru untuk media penyimpanan eksternal. Diperkenalkan pada tahun 2004, awalnya pilihan interface media penyimpanan eksternal adalah FireWire atau USB. Namun, kedua interface tersebut mengakibatkan bottle neck pada kemampuan transfer, selain bridge yang digunakan menyebabkan fungsi SMART pada harddisk tidak dapat dimanfaatkan. eSATA dapat mengatasi semua kendala tersebut.

How to tell the difference between SATA and eSATA
The connectors for SATA and eSATA are visually different. A SATA connector has a distinctive L shape on the connector. An eSATA connector is rectangular and does not have the L shape.
